OTHER HELPFUL INFO:

Type of Athlete

We look for athletes who want to work hard, excel, and become the best!  We expect a lot of our athletes in and out of practice.  We look for, teach and commit to a high standard of conduct and character.  Please know that there is a difference between competitive cheerleading and recreational cheerleading.  Competitive cheerleading is a very athletic team sport, while recreational cheerleading is more of an extra-curricular activity.

Athletically, we work with all types of athletes - volleyball players, soccer players, track stars, and, of course, cheerleaders.  We also have gymnasts, dancers and brand new athletes on our squads.  The common denominators that we look for are:

  • enthusiasm about competitive cheerleading
  • commitment to physical excellence
  • ability to learn and apply new techniques and skills
  • willingness to be coached and pushed to fullest potential

Time Commitment

The excitement of Stars begins as soon as you are selected for a team.  This is an 11-month commitment as it is a year-round sport with competitions and local performances throughout the season.

The SilverStar season runs from May until the end of March/beginning of April. Teams have 1-2 practices per week.  Each athlete will also be required to attend an additional tumbling practice 3 times a month (this is included in tuition and Stars can attend more if they want). We do attempt to accommodate everyone's various commitments (faith, family, school, and sports).  However, it is impossible to coordinate a large team without some level of sacrifice on each athlete's part.  This is a significant time commitment that the entire team needs to make in order to have the most successful year.  The payoff is huge - successful practices, meaningful friendships, and big trophies!

Qualifications:

Teachability-able to learn quickly and adjust what needs to be corrected
Poise-well-groomed, presenting themselves crisp, sharp and confident
Determination-the focus and drive that it takes to master material
